Questions that matter: using Q methodology to identify student priorities in module level experience

Student engagement with evaluation surveys has been declining, reducing the reliability and usability of data for quality assurance enhancement. One reasons that, as reported by students, is perceived low relevance survey questions to their daily experiences concerns. Uniform questions, provided standardised instruments, rarely capture needs a diverse student population wide-ranging educational experiences. This article draws on findings from project that explored priorities in module level experience involving them development questions. Q methodology was utilised identify groups students similar views explore key factors patterns thoughts about experience. The are indicative three distinctive reflect different stages university journey, maturity cognitive engagement. reflects implications processes, teaching support.
